This photo from the Jim Henson Archives shows the artist with his "Shrine to the Almighty Dollar." Henson made it out an old armoire, paint, and pennies, and he hung it on the wall of his office. You can see a lot of intricate craftwork as well as a small pyre in the center to burn offerings to the gods of money, perhaps, or maybe to destroy money in front of Washington's watchful stare.
About a year ago, when I committed to writing this book, I took a sharpie and I wrote "Make Art" under the insole of my left shoe and "Make Money" under the right one. Maybe mental imagery like this serves no purpose, but maybe it has an effect, who knows?
Do you have anything like this? An affirmation written on a notepad or a dream catcher with dollars in it? Why do you think Jim Henson made this shrine?
